SCADA and ICS
SCADA and ICS Services

We provide support on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) security. SCADA and ICS are critical to secure properly since these services are responsible for the movement of water, oil, gas, petrochemical, and electric power.

The Stuxnet attack changed the world in 2010. Stuxnet was specifically designed to attack an automation network by taking control of the programmable logic controllers in a nuclear enrichment facility. Since then, governments, industries, and energy sectors have put their security and supply chains under the microsocope.

Because of the popularity and media coverage that Stuxnet received, attackers have discovered that SCADA and ICS targets are attractive. It was not long until these systems were targeted. The U.S. ICS-CERT, a branch of the Department of Homeland security, has been monitoring, reporting, and issuing advisories of increased vulnerabilities.

Some of the services we provide are:
  • Secure engineering access solutions
  • Securing legacy protocols through encryption and authentication
  • Solutions for notification of tampering
  • Intrusion Detection System (IDS)
  • Solutions for secure wireless communications
  • General consultation. Got a question? Ask us and we'll help

Did you know?
  • ICS has become a popular target for attackers
  • SCADA and ICS were designed and built decades ago with little to no security in mind
  • Recent attacks on ICS have been successful
  • Devices on air-gapped networks have had a temporary Ethernet cable connected to them for upgrades – and the cable was forgotten which left the entire network visible on the internet

  • Cyberattackers are very patient individuals with many tools to exploit weaknesses. Layered security is a must for SCADA and ICS and Microteknix can help. Have a question? Contact us and we'll promptly respond.
